Trans and Gender Diverse Peer Support Project

Supporting growth and sustainability of trans and gender diverse peer support across Victoria. Supported by the Victorian Government.

TGV is opening a brand new community space

Over the last 18 months, trans and gender diverse people have faced toxic Australian election cycles and mainstream media, and global anxieties spreading across the US and UK, fuelled by gender critical, far right, and neo-Nazi allegiances. Off the back of 3 years of COVID impacted mental illness, unstable employment, and housing, TGV are seeing dramatic increases in collective anxiety and fatigue alongside dramatic pleas for support.

In March this year TGV received some urgently needed crisis support funding from the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing supported by the Commissioner of LGBTQI+ Communities, Todd Fernanado, and Minister for Equality, Harriet Shing. While we remain challenged by lack of continuing core funding, we are so grateful for this boost, which enables us to support and affirm community strength and resilience.

TGV is about to turn a corner on our quest to connect with and care for trans, gender diverse and non-binary communities. We’ve just signed a lease on a new space in Brunswick East. This is what we are planning.

Affirmation Station is an inclusive space for community care, affirmation and strength-building, where trans and gender diverse people can connect, empower one another, and celebrate happy and healthy lives.

This is a community space, and we need the community's help to bring it to life. We need your energy, skills, time and donations.
