Thanks for taking the time to view the Country Roads to Pride Gallery. We hope you liked the images and engaged with the stories. Can you spare a minute to tell us what you thought?
My journey towards pride took 40 years to begin, but once it started, there was no stopping that light from shining. Coming out in a regional setting was much easier and empowering than I thought it would be. Community was hard to find initially, but once I became involved with Pride activities and social support groups, I discovered, the gender diverse community and our allies are everywhere. Sharing my story in local media, throughout my transition, allowed the people who live and work in my community to understand that I am a proud trans woman. This knowledge turned many curious stares into smiles, encouragement, and healthy conversations. My photo was taken in the park next to the Town Hall, where we were hosting a transgender clothing swap, supported by many local allies. I am very proud to host a trans event in such a prominent and visible location.
