My journey towards ‘pride’ didn’t include a road map with appropriate ‘pit stops’. I’ve nevertheless found support along the way to become who I am - an autistic trans man. I am fortunate to live among a community of family, friends, and neighbours, who not only accept me, but who celebrate with me. Coming home, after so many years of feeling lost, still stirs rich emotion. I live and work near the ocean. It rejoices with me as her breakers wash over the sand to reveal lost and precious life. I have a new name now, one that I like. I have a new body, that causes less strife. I stiff feel the old aches and pain, But strength, purpose, and insights, I gain. Gone are those doubts and confusions that reign, In their place comes the voice of truth once again.
